Tired
I’m tired.
I’m tired of anger and hate.
I’m tired of ignorance and arrogance.
I’m tired of condescension and egotism.
I’m tired of Asian hate, anti-semitism, and Islamophobia.
I’m tired of the murders of innocent Israelis & Palestinians.
I’m tired of stealing land because of what an old book says — and the targeting of a people because of what an old prophet said.
I’m tired of the willful ignorance upon how a person chooses to live.
I’m tired of the arrogance that belittles that person because of how they live.
I’m tired of shouts of freedom from a sect that hypocritically calls for control over a woman’s body.
I’m tired of the restricting of history & education by those who are afraid of accepting the errors of their past.
I’m tired of previous generations condescending new ones, as if their generation was without fault.
I’m tired of hearing “back in my day,” especially when your day involved slurs and segregation.
I’m tired of the egotism toward new ways of thinking, especially from those unwilling to accept the natural process of evolution.
I’m tired of centuries-old conspiracies targeting minorities resurrecting themselves in a time of open access to knowledge.
I’m tired of damning a sex because it dares to challenge antiquated roles & patriarchal beliefs.
I’m tired of the mercilessly stubborn.
I’m tired of the severely close-minded.
I’m tired of the unadaptable.
I’m tired of the anti-evolutionary.
However…
I’m not tired of being around loved ones.
I’m not tired of seeing the beautiful smiles on the faces of my wife and sons.
I’m not tired of the pleasantness of reading a book on a cool, quiet morning.
I’m not tired of watching the waves crash against a coastline.
I’m not tired of writing.
I’m not tired of cinema.
I’m not tired of nature.
I’m not tired of culture.
I’m not tired of learning.
I’m not tired of teaching.
I’m not tired of eating.
I’m not tired of breathing.
I’ll never grow tired of living — just tired of those who choose to make living needlessly more difficult than it needs to be.
